Sorry for the title, couldn't think of anything better to simplify the contents of the thread.

In the demo I once had multiple covenant gates for a single zone.

I'm currently playing beta version 1.002 and I found these things:

-I had to do a mission for the apothecary (it was either "water poisoned" or "food poisoned") in which I was expected to retrieve 5 mushroom caps in "Somber Forest". When I finally arrived at the location, I created a portal to prepare my party for the search, but I had to try many times (more than 5 or 6) to spawn a portal. It's like when I try to open a portal during a fight (sometimes the gate isn't spawned), only that I wasn't using skills and/or getting bashed, I was just standing. When I got back at my house, my party spawned at the upper door, and the portal wasn't there, so I couldn't get back to "Somber Forest" through it. I had to use the covenant gate to get to a nearby zone and then I walked back to the mission location. The gate I created was still there (and still flawed). And another strange fact is that the zone was almost empty, less than 15 monsters, and a guy that could be escorted to another zone. And no mushroom caps whatsoever. I tried reloading the game and this fixed the problems, I found the mushrooms, saw the guy getting killed by a horde of baddies and I could create fully working portals again. So it's not a show stopper.

-In a mission I was told to kill something like 20 torvas in a particular level of a dungeon, which was pretty small so there were a maximum of 7-8 of those monsters. Saving and reloading (or waiting a respawn?) allowed me to end the mission. Still no show stopper.

-Just out of curiosity, I think I got a mission from a ghost in a dungeon (it was late, can't remember well the mission text). I saw just the [?] icon floating around in a dungeon, no model or outline to be seen. I talked to the guy and I was told to avenge him. After the kill I was told to go search for him in the same zone where the enemy was, and I saw the same thing I found in the dungeon, a [!] icon with nothing under it. Is it working as intended? It was late, so it could just be me. :p

EDIT: Still in 1.002:

-Sometimes I'm asked to kill monsters in a particular zone, but I can get the kill even if the monster is killed in another zone (e.g. kill 1 fire tower in "Amber Meadows", I kill one in "Bearhold Grasslands" and I can solve the mission anyway). Same thing happens when collecting monster parts (like fire tower trunk).

This sounds like a bug that I haven't tracked down yet, that if you play for a long time in one span the game can no longer spawn anything. Like you found out, for now, just save/exit and then resume and everything should work fine again.

I still need to think of a good way to deal with this. The will eventually respawn though.

Well the guy isn't supposed to been completely invisible. He should be pretty transparent though.

This one is intended. Any of the quests that have a general purpose like prove your courage or I need 5 monster tails can be solved anywhere that you can find the monster. The only reason for the named zone is that you know of at least one place where you can find that particular monster.

Now the quests that have a more specific reason like uprisings, you have to kill them in that specific zone.

Yeah, at times I fail to see even my rogue companion (stealthed). As I said, I found the quest giver in a poorly lit dungeon, covered by the entrance stairs (or by the vegetation, when I went back to him), so it should be working fine.

Thanks!

This is what I see when I find a ghost (on the left there is my stealthed rogue).
After solving the mission I can see the ghost while it disappears, both the outline and some very transparent textures.

That is kind of strange, I'll look at it.

Could it be a WINE related problem? Are people on Windows seeing this?

Hmm, wine related problem, it sounds like I'm a drunk and can't see things... :D

I don't recall hearing anyone else mentioning this problem, but I wouldn't think it was a wine problem. Off hand I would guess that your rogue stealth wouldn't work either if it was wine causing the problem.

I've run into this one too. Most recently Vicious Chambers level 1 and 2 under Yuleshire Downs. I couldn't leave the first room (area?) of each of these levels. Stalagmites blocked my path even though I could see enemies and chests beyond the point where I was stopped. The stalagmites seemed far enough apart that I should have been able to go between them, but I couldn't (kept getting the "path blocked" message). I had to reload repeatedly to finish the two "kill X number of X monster" quests associated with the levels.

Question: Is this a glitch? Are the levels in question normal size, but because of some problem I can't advance into them, or are they purposefully small levels?

Caves/dungeons have a minimum size. If you can only get to the one little area at the beginning then there is probably a small issue with one of the blocks used to generate the zone.

I should have added that the 3rd level of that dungeon seemed perfectly normal; that is, it was quite large and full of critters. :)
