I played a lot of games growing up. Well, okay I played some games growing up. Some of my early favorite computer games were Joust and Bar Tap. Of all of my memories, games played and games merely watched played at arcades, I don't recall a game called Lemmings.

The reason Lemmings has come to my attention is because of my love of crocheting amigurumi (stuffed animals). PlanetJune (http://www.planetjune.com/blog/) has some cool pictures of amigurumi lemmings (first the ones she made (http://www.planetjune.com/blog/lemmings/) and then a crazy joke a craft group pulled on an IT department (http://www.planetjune.com/blog/lemming-invasion/)). Cute. :)

My question is, how many of you guys heard of this game?

I think the question should be how many of us haven't heard of the game :p

Sometimes I think I should track this game down and see what it was about. Of course it isn't always easy to find old games that work on modern computer systems.

http://www.elizium.nu/scripts/lemmings/

It's written entirely in javascript and isn't really that bad a duplication of the origional game.

You need to pick a job first, then pick the lemming to assign to that job. So for the first level you have 10 digger jobs you can assign, click the digger job, then click a lemming. The lemming will start to dig, until he can dig no more, then revert back to having no job.
Keep in mind that if you get to later levels there's a limit to how far each job can go even if nothing else stops it(So you can only build so much of a bridge, dig through so much dirt etc).
