Somebody brought up the problem (can't find the post) of running away from a cave-in, only to have the NPC he was escorting linger behind and get hit. Would it possible to have the NPC's "tether" get really short for the duration of a cave-in, so he sticks really close to his escort?

Another thing I've run into is when I'm trading with an NPC down in the dungeon. I hear a cave-in start and take off running. The NPC stays put and gets killed. It would be nice (albeit probably more difficult since there's no tether in place) to have NPCs that I'm trading with stick with me while I'm running during cave-ins too.

Any thoughts?

I think impending cave-ins should make NPCs flee in a panic in a random direction.

That's definitely a good idea for the traders. I think if the escorted NPCs did that, we would hear screams of frustration from their escorts. :) They're hard enough to escort already.

Either way, it'd beat the crap out of them standing there and getting smushed by a cave-in.
