View Full Version : Possible bug with Engines maybe?

So I was playing around on my dryad, and I noticed that if I took off a crew member that was giving the helm I needed to use an engine, the engine still.. works even though I no longer meet the requirements to equip it. Is this intended or is this a bug? Hmm does it with power plants to for some reason. Only thing that won't work if you don't meet the req's is weapon systems so far. though I got lots of other stuff to test.

It's a known limitation. I may or may not fix it one day. :)

For components that are not activated (e.g. weapons, bonuses), I view it like the following: you need the crew to install the component, but it will run fine once installed even if the crew is gone.

Compare it to the engine in your car; you need a mechanic to install it and get it working, but he doesn't need to be sitting in your car every time you drive after that. (=

True thats what I was thinking, you need people to install the things, but after its installed it shouldn't stop working cuz the people go away. I actually like it that I figured this out, saves me stat points. Tactical is always good to stack though due to the +damage, Helm and computers just do not add enough attack/defense to make the stats worthwhile keeping, I mean from the stats themselves. I'd also like to see a talent systrem for the game, maybe slightly diff for each race just to add some more depth.

Has anyone tested Installing a Component, removing needed Crew to no longer meet Stat Requirements for it, then keeping the Crew Member off & having the Component get Broken, then see if the Component can be Repaired while Stat Requirements are still not met...? Armor might be a good Test Component for this...

Hmm I'd need a higher piece of armor I meet the req's for what I currently have without crew, let me see if i can find a piece i need crew or those medium slot stat boost items to get on.

Speaking of medium slots, is it just me or is there WAY to many choices of things for medium slots compared to light or heavy?

Agreed. I tend to hurt for Medium Slots most as well. Speaking of which... I'm surprised there's no Heavy Slot Shield Components...

I am pretty hard up for heavy slots too considering you need at least 2 power plants by level 25 or so if you wanna use the gear, 1 just does not do it anymore. I think the power plants need to give at least 50% more power than they do now.

Or, we need to get more Power Load outta the Medium & Light Slot Power Load Items... & maybe Engineering Points could give a little extra Power Load per Point in it instead of boosting only Max Energy & Energy Regen? :D

Would be nice, also any idea if bombs are supposed to hit more than once? like I notice if i toss one into a pack of enemies that are close together, each will get hit mutiple times for full damage.

I liked them doing the multi hits too, but it was way overpowered and honestly needed to be tweaked somewhat. I loved abusing them as well, but it was so grossly overpowered. However, the amount of hits they do was just lowered, I've still fired 1 bomb and seen 3 damage numbers on 1 enemy from it. its less than 5-6 like I was getting if enough enemies were close together, but its still decent. Its still by far the best aoe weapon in the game, unless something new comes along at lv 55+ I haven't seen yet.

Naw test this on monster ships that lack shield/armor, you'll notice if they are clumped close together it does more damage than 1 bomb would on a single target to each target, try it and see. When enemy ships shoot me and if they blow thru my shield and hit my armor, 2 damage numbers do not show up on me, just one, same as if I shot thru the enemies shield with a beam then hit their armor, still only 1 number, the excess damage just carrys over to the next health bar.
