Just curious what are some 'must have' mods that you all use?
These are the ones I use all the time

Increased stack size, being able to carry more than 10 health/energy/armor items in one pile is great, saves so much space.

Increased max speed - 200 default speed is fine, but I like a quicker paced game so I keep the value at 400. I do lose a slot to get in more thrusters but I think it pays off, able to explore the sectors much quicker. I suppose it does affect gameplay and battle as well.

Sometimes I will use the crew points mod to give more than 5 points per level, usually set to 7 or so.

As a rule, I do not start using mods until I have figured a game out, and have overcome all challenges I've set for myself. With Drox, I haven't quite done the former, and haven't even come close to the latter, so I have not tried any mods.

Before Shadow unleashed the Iota goodness I was thinking of making a race mod in the vein of the Drakk Clones, but now there are so many new builds to try and some many levels up to 200, that I do not think I will be using any mods for a long, long time.

My current on duty Mods as of the time of this Post:

Drox Bombers: Makes Bombers fire Bombs instead of stupid Missiles. (So awesome! Should become Vanilla! :D)
Crew Points per Level: 8 Crew Points per Level instead of the vanilla 5. 5 is seriously just plain too few. (So awesome! Should become Vanilla! :D)
Balanced Command: It's ludicrosity to need 460 points to reach the Heavy Flagship... 250 is more reasonable. (So awesome! Should become Vanilla! :D)
Stashable: So I can transfer Doomsday Weapons & Crew between Ships without needing a Multiplayer Pal's help.

Drox Bombers (I don't using bombers, but since this is my mod...)
Better Fighters (Fighters can spawn with Expert and up to Legendary titles)
Better Missiles (missiles exploding on impact, which makes them much more efficient)
Rebalanced command (I tuned it to 200 max, will replace with 250 on next playthrough)
Unlocked racial slots
Efficient race services (all services are much more expensive, but chance of success is higher)
Max speed cap (400, because it's tiresome to explore sectors at 200)

I've made all of them by myself (in some cases reading modding forum).

this. I use the exact same loadout, and agree that (aside from the stashable mod) that the changes made would fit very well with the base game.

I only use a couple of mods. Balanced Command is one of them and the other is a quick-and-dirty mod I made that gets rid of the pocket dimensions containing unstable wormholes, replacing the wormholes with recharge stations. If you can find one of those pockets it's a nice place to hide out and swap gear. I saw a mod for all giant cargo bays and will probably grab that for my next ship.

Thinking about this, I just got an idea for a better "hideout" mod. Time to mess around and see if I can implement it....

I tried something with more points per level, but now i play with Balanced Command, so i have enough points in the medium term.

With the last beta patch we can go more than speed 200 with the active thrusters, so it may be enough without a mod to go faster.

Trying the balanced command out now.

Was thinking maybe command points could have been varied in game depending on if you were playing hardcore, semi hardcore, etc... Could be a good way to vary the difficulty in the game.

I'm using:
* Stashable (to stash doomsday weapons & crew); and
* AllGiantBays2 for the extra loot space early in the game.

I haven't tried any other mods. Thanks to the mod makers!

All I'm using right now is a mod to increase the number of max AI factions to 10, and a mod that disables economic loss (forgot I had that installed).

I have some more, but they're just leftovers of mods people had requested that I don't actually intend to use.

Drox Bombers (I don't using bombers, but since this is my mod...)I'm using a Bomber on my Scavenger, & will transfer one to my Main for use on him once I get another lvl 100 Bomber to drop! The Bombs + the Bomber Buff they finally got has made them good now imho. Many thanks for making that Mod! ^_^

p.s if this is stepping on someones toes i will remove mod since first time modding :)

You can use any mod in multiplayer, especially when your partner(s) have same mod(s).

Yes, but as i understand, to run multiplayer with ui mods only the person that wants to see the changes need to have the mod installed, to run with balance mods the person hosting the session is the one that needs to have the mod, and to run multiplayer with mods that add new itens all players need to have the mod...


also another great mod in my opinion that no one said yet, it's for Din's but how is just a font replacement it works just fine:
It's pretty easy with the SDK. Here's a simple mod that makes most of the text in the game smaller by two points.

its so much easier to aim for the ships in the middle of heavy loot/debris fields without the names getting in the way
also the text messages occupies a smaller space of the screen

Since I'm a total failure when it comes to making mods myself, is anyone able to make/update this racial mod for unlocking the slots for the Iota subraces?

I'd use the increased max speed mod but, are npcs balanced so they also go up to 400 speed? same for missles and such otherwise you have a pretty gamebreaking advantage there.

many npc ships already move faster (sometimes significantly faster) than the max speed, which annoys me to no end. you can already outrun most missile with the unmodded max speed, so can't imagine that harming anything either.
