I changed one character's sword to a better one but somehow ended up with less damage. He went from an 11-38, 27.2 DPS long sword to a 17-42, 29.8 DPS machete. However, his scaled damage went from 39-139, 98.9 DPS to 48-136, 92.9 DPS. I can't understand how +6 on the base low end damage becomes +9 on the scaled low end but +4 on the base high end damage becomes -3 on the scaled high end instead of +6 or at least +5.

Elemental bonuses don't get multiplied.

Im pretty sure your longsword has a +% atk speed modifier and thats what caused the damage dropped when you switch to your machete.

Elemental bonuses don't get multiplied.

The first sword had no elemental damage enchant, while the second one had 5-7 Cold damage, and neither had +attack speed, so I guess that's it. But I thought elemental damage enchants weren't reflected in base damage or DPS. It's misleading to factor in damage that doesn't get multiplied by skills and strength or resisted by armor. A 30 DPS weapon with 11-15 elemental damage isn't nearly the equal of a 30 DPS pure physical damage weapon, but they look the same. Time to reorder a bunch of spare weapons, then.

The value displayed at the top of the window is the final value for the weapon before including stat and skill modifiers.
