For the first time in a while, I went to an Utopian planet to make chip slots in an item. I must have had five millions or so, and I just spammed the mouse the way I used to do. I ran out of cash before I managed to max out the slots... this is definitely not how it used to go.

Was I really unlucky, or has the price been raised? I am not saying that it's a bad thing, I just have not seen it in the patch notes.

I don't remember changing the cost recently.

Maybe it was just that particular Component... what Component was it that did this...?

Don't forget the cost of upgrading an item is directly proportionate to its retail value. So the costs will effectively change every time you try to upgrade a new item.

I think that it was just the RNG throwing a tantrum. This wasn't anything I had not done before: taking a normal, maxed durability, Structure 153 heavy armor, and attempting to carve seven slots into it.

Once I made some cash, I got the seventh slot on the second try. The RNG gives, and the RNG takes away...

Frankly, I would love an option to pay twice the expected cumulative price for the next slot/durability increase/energy reduction, and get a guaranteed improvement. Sometimes my finger tires from clicking on an item I'm trying to improve. The last durability increase, for example, is really hard to get.
