View Full Version : Creating new world, some gates don't stay active

This may be a "feature" as opposed to a bug, but it's confusing to say the least. When you win a world and move on to a new one, only some of the previously activated gates stay available. It's very mildly annoying (to me at least) to have the maps disappear and the world be black again, but that part mostly makes sense because it's a "new" world. However, some gates (almost always Grimalkin Forest) stay active where you can portal to them, while others don't, and you have to find them and activate them again.

At first, I thought maybe the only gates that stayed activated were in areas that were in the same relative position as in the old world (Grimalkin Forest is always adjacent to Jorvik, so it stays, but Amber Meadows moves from being northwest of Grimalkin to northeast, so that gate goes dormant) but have been unable to verify this. In any event, it's frustrating to go into a new world and have to explore some of the same areas again, finding gates and so forth when the quests seem to expect you to be able to pick up right where you left off.

What happens is that the gates from zones that are straight north of the town are carried over and everything else is reset. The reason this happens is that those are the only zones that are guaranteed to be in the world for each game. Those zones might not be the same zone each time, but there will be a zone there.
