View Full Version : Names, Titles, etc - what commands are there

Hello!

This is a question mainly to Shadow, but also to all who can provide any info.

While modding gui for DC, I noticed that names of some objects,
namely entrances, are composed of few parts.

Below is the screenshot of how this actually looks in my mod right now.

I am modding SelectedEntity.mnu file.
So far I am using SelectedName and Selected Title separately to display
name of entity in one row, and it's title in a row below.

It works well with NPC and monsters, but does not work that well with entrances and gates.

Name of an entrance is for example "Entrance to Pit of Sorrow lvl 3".
I would like to display that as
Entrance
to Pit of Sorrow lvl 3

However both parts are displayed in one row when I use SelectedName command.
I can try to remove "Entrance" text from files, but that looks ugly.
Stretching a background texture to accommodate entire string is other
possibility, but that would make this window too big.


So is there a way to dissect this long string into two parts?
I know that names are composed of prefixes and other things,
so are there commands in existence that would allow us to decide
specifically which part we want to display?

If so, what are the other commands?
For example, what are the commands to display player rank (Din's Elite),
level and the classes of character separately?
Currently used PlayerTitle shows all these items as one string.

I'm not sure you are going to be able to split the gate stuff up like you want.

Here's all of the related commands, although I don't guarantee they all work:

PlayerName
PlayerNameAndTitle
PlayerTitle
PlayerOptions
PlayerOptionsFull
PlayerClassName
PlayerLevel

SelectedFullName
SelectedName
SelectedTitle

What about
EntityNameSimple, EntityLevel and similar stuff?
Is there a way to display name prefix (or suffix) or _only_ base name?

There is:

EntityName
EntityNameSimple
EntityLevel

For gates it doesn't look like you can modify the layout that much (I just see code changes for simple).

so it seems that the only way right now is to make bigger background window.
