Hi! Some question about Drox races.

Reading blog and forum comments, seems that races could:
- develop planetary defences,
- develop space defences around planets,
- send scout ship to find new planets to colonize,
- send colony ships,
- colonize planets :D,
- build army to attack other races and drox's ships,
- attack space monsters,
- fight revolutions,
- spy other races (send spy ship on enemy territory? Not clear this point),
- hire Drox Operative to solve quests,
- ally to other races/declare wars,
- make research (not clear this point),
- gather resources (money is the only resource in Drox?)

lost something?

They can pretty much do all of that. Right now the only way to defend a planet is through ships though.

Spies are fairly abstract right now. There isn't a physical spy anywhere but they can succeed or fail (not accomplish their goal, got caught, etc.)

They do research for new technology which they use when building their ships. The various races focus on different type of technologies (weapons, engines, computers, etc).

The races themselves have food, mineral, money, and technology as their basic resources. Most of the time the player only deals in money.

good to know, but what about merchants?

All of the inhabited planets act as merchants.

so no merchants ships around to attack and steal some rare stuff ?

Currently there aren't aren't any random merchants flying around but you essentially just described pirates which we do have.

so pirates are at same "level" as Drox Operative, right? I mean, only one ship, no direct race controlled?

Well, usually there is only one pirate and they have no race.

Have no idea why but that sentence struck me as rather funny. I kept seeing an amoeba like creature polymorphing into different races and never staying in one form more than a second or two. Some of the time disappearing altogether! Kinda like the 'Horse of a different color' in the "Wizard of Oz" movie. :D

Guess I'm just giddy after getting a decent result on my two hour echocardiogram earlier today. :)

Mm I think flying merchants are a good idea. In Space Rangers 2, I always like rescuing merchants from pirates (or, if I'm feeling evil, waiting for pirates to destroy them up before swooping in for the loot), even if the translated dialogues are a bit strange when merchants comm in for help.
