View Full Version : AI Interaction

I haven't played all too much, but I've noticed that AI generally seems to just hang around. Escorts sitting by planets, monsters sitting still or fighting. What I'd love to see is different types of AI interaction.

For example, enemies drop items even when killed by other AI. These items, however, just sit around until they decay or the player picks them up. Why not make use of them instead?
I'm not sure if AI ships use the modules they drop when killed - but it could be very immersive as well as interesting if ships started using items that gave them a bonus, be it limited to only veterans and experts or not
You could expand on it by letting the travelling vendors pick up valuable objects and sell them, as well as adding new looter ships that have the possibility of becoming very strong if you leave them alone for too long.

I'd also like to see monster groups fortifying empty planets or perhaps building giant space outposts if left alone for too long. It doesn't feel completely right with them all just floating about without any stable base.

Bumping this up because it didn't get approved until it was @ page 2 (no posting rights)

From what I can tell from reading Shadow's posts (the dev), AI interactions are going to be getting some work done.

Some of this stuff already happens though I know. I don't know about components being used by the AI, but the boss NPCs do exhibit some more complicated behaviour by invading systems and meeting with other monsters, forming fleets and uprisings, etc.
