I'm using 0.905.

Hive (enemy) colonized a planet. All they had were 2 escort ships, so I ignored the escorts and destroyed the colony. The escort ships lost their Hive label but stayed in place. Hovering the mouse over them brought up the mouth cursor, but nothing happened when I clicked.

Shortly thereafter, Fringe (ally) came and colonized the planet. The two escort ships got Fringe icons and started shooting at me.

This is not the first time I've seen unlabeled ships by an empty planet.

This has been an issue for quite a few patches now and perhaps since the beginning. These ships really need to either self destruct when their planet is destroyed, or they need to disperse to the nearest friendly planet for reassignment.

I've had a secondary bug occur from this that was actually quite annoying. When the planet colony was destroyed, the ships (let's call them Hive) could no longer be targeted or damaged in any way. Normally they just shoot at monsters that go by and that's the extent of it. In this case though, a Cortex planet that was friendly to me was right next to their planet. These Hive ships, which now appeared un-owned, were still able to shoot at the Cortex planet and ships, but they could not fire back. I couldn't damage them either, so I had no choice but to watch these invincible ships destroy the Cortex planet/colony.

I'm hoping a large patch is put out to improve planetary defense and offensive measures before release. Defenders need to be more mobile and not stationary, and attackers need to bring larger fleets to attack with, especially if they are vastly superior to the other races in technology and fleet size.

Yup. It's happening now with every planet I bump off in my mad conquest of my enemies. I even knocked off an enemy planet, had my ally use me to colonize it, and have the ships that were parked there turn into ally ships. Very odd.
