Delilah's thread about a 'hard core' challenge http://www.soldak.com/forums/showthread.php?t=528 encouraged me to mention this:

Are there any plans to add bonuses (similar to the level bonuses Amateur, Expert, etc.) based on certain Journal statistics? For example; a bonus to strength for killing over 10,000 or 20,000 monsters; a bonus to vitality or spirit for maintaining a high kills-to-deaths ratio; an intelligence bonus for dealing a certain amount of damage at once; or more lifestone health for successfully fending off a certain number of raids.

There could even be hindrances as well such as dying too many times, but if the purpose of the game is to be enjoyable then I believe that such decreases would subtract from the enjoyment of the game (or only be included in some hardcore option).

Preferably something that is not easily abusable, but then again in a single player game there's not much that can be done against mods and the like.

Something like a covenant bonus would be appropriate. Succesfully defend 30 raids and get a defensive trait for instance.

Of course, that would require implementing AI covenant traits for player covenants. :)
