Cannot begin playing demo (Windows 10 Pro)

Game loads, I see Home screen. Mouse and hotkeys do not work. I have to go to Task Manager to get out. Tried this on both Steam and the demo I downloaded from the website.

I am so excited about this game and it's exactly what I've been looking for so PLEASE tell me what I'm doing wrong.
