Default Snapshots of a Fringe ship as it levels

From the threads in this forum, I have gotten the impression that we all play very, very differently. I have been wondering how you guys level your ships, and how powerful they are at certain levels.

Well, the best way to get info is to share info, so I have started a very min-maxed Fringe ship, and will post its stats window as it levels.... It's a hardcore ship, so the snapshots may be cut short.

At this point, the Eviscerator is only armed with a laser, but can fire it all day long, as it regenerates as much energy as the laser consumes.

For awhile, the Eviscerator was using a laser and a power virus, but as soon as I found a EM shockwave, I went with it.

Eviscerator is still mounting a laser and a shockwave, just better versions than before.

At this point, Eviscerator is going through the challenges. It entered the level 72 challenge at level 64.

Goes without saying, I will be posting more snapshot in this thread, and I would appreciate it if someone else would post a series of shots of their ship(s).

By the way, I still have the full screenshots these stat screens come from. If anyone is actually interested, I could post the equipped components, as well.

Come on, guys. No one wants to share his designs? Take a few screenshots as you level, and show us (or even just me) how you do it... Please?

I can't be of help in this endeavor... I use Mods, so I assume my Builds would be disqualified from this Thread if I submitted them... I might even be accused of cheating & being Non-Legit.

Default Sorry

Hi, sorry, but I'm now at level 93 and because I play in sissy-mode (standard, but always a bit lower than my ship level), I level up so slowly that it will take forever to get he snaps together.

This is my current build:

My defense is mostly a shield and a fighter bay (heavy raiders at the moment). I decided to skip armor and structure in this build, so it seems a bit vulnerable to kinetic weapons.Oddly enough though, I haven't had too much of a problem with kinetic weapons so far. It might be because I tend to keep enemies at a decent distance and fly around perpendicular to them a lot so a lot of the projectiles miss anyway.
I have had with problems missiles though (go figure) so I tossed in an anti-missile on a whim and it helped so much I decided to keep it until I find something more fitting to put in that slot.

As far as offense goes I have a Ballistic, a Virus, a Heavy Raider Bay, Mines, and Deadly Aim. I find the Virus makes a good pairing with the Ballistic because it reduces the target's attack and defense while also acting as a decent Beam weapon to hit things the Ballistic has trouble with so I don't have to carry a separate Beam.
The Mines turned out surprisingly useful enough that I've decided to keep them. Mines don't need to be aimed and they detonate on their own so they don't interfere much with using other weapons except for their energy cost, so they're very "drop and forget". A lot of times when I run into a group of enemies I'll drop a mine or two while maneuvering around and firing my other weapons then fly back through the mines so the enemy runs onto them for a bit of extra damage.

I see that you are a firm subscriber to the notion that the best defense is a good offense. The fighters must be a very effective defensive screen for your ship if you can get away without armor or extra structure. My Eviscerator is lower level than your Achenar, and has already been hit a few times for more than a 1000 hps.

You have motivated me to take my 'No Command skill' ship a few levels higher.

By the way, I agree that the virus makes a great substitute for a laser. Its slightly lower damage is redeemed by the triple debuffs it can inflict. It's just that I find medium slots a lot more precious than heavy ones, and my favorite weapon, the shockwave, is a medium component. I usually mount a laser, a virus and a shockwave when I go hunting for big bosses. Four debuffs, and even slayers have a hard time landing a hit.

So, I started a new ship. It will remain a light escort, for as long as it lives. The challenge is see how much one can do with just 11 components.

For now, I am just mounting everything on which I get my hands.

I'm having rather poor luck with crew members, and am thus unable to install much of anything.

Apart from the laser, I'm not having much luck upgrading anything. A very fragile ship for this level.

And this is the last snapshot of the Xumpama cBpaka (Хитрата сврака), because at level 23, an unstable wormhole teleported it in the middle of some inhibitors.

So much for this, but I think I will try again. What I learned:

1. It is crucial to get some hit points as early as possible.
2. An area of effect weapon, or at least a missile defense component, is not optional, if you are immobilized.
3. An active shield component is also something from which a light escort can very much benefit.

I'll try again, with a Cortex light escort.

It also helps that enemies that have mainly Kinetic weapons tend to not be able to chew through the fighters very well because they're so small and fast, so the fighters tend to survive a bit better against enemies that would otherwise get through the shield faster. That and the fact a lot of Kinetic weapons can be evaded really helps reduce that problem.

The occasional boss or bounty hunter might pack something that will punch through the shield in one shot, but thankfully that isn't too often. When that happens I'll usually use some energy consumables to keep the fighter count up and keep my distance.

Another try at leveling a ship without any Command. This time, it's a Cortex ship, and I'll shoot for Tactics 250 and the rest split, somehow, between Engineering and Computers. Maybe it'll end up being a tiny big banger.

I had good luck with crew, I'll be able to install better engines and armor... when I find them.

I have not come across any structure components, but the computer's defense is doing an OK job at protecting the Flea.

The Flea is very light, which allowed me to shift the engines to a light slot. For now, the freed slot is holding more armor.

I found a nice Hive crewman, which allowed me to slot better armor and decent structure. Now the Flea is pretty tough for its level.

[The forum has a four image limit, so the story of the flea will continue in another post.]

[This forum seems to have a four images per post limit, so the story of the Flea continues here.]

As light as it is, the Flea wins easy victories by weaving around projectiles, outrunning missiles and firing its gun at planets from extreme range.

The Flea's powerplant has trouble keeping with its upgraded components, but a full battery can keep the weapon firing for a long time

I lowered power consumption at Fringe planets. High attack and Tactics make the Flea great against single targets, but it's easily swarmed.
