![]() Beta Patch 0.926 of Drox Operative is available over on the Drox Operative patch page. Changes can be read here. This patch adds mine fields, tachyon storms, radiation storms, nanomite clouds, antimatter fields, unstable black holes, and as usual fixes a bunch of small things.

![]() I was exploring the opening screen when I ran across a pink cloud (new feature). Sparks flew from my invisible ship as I passed through it.

![]() - Text for characters in escape pods (i.e. destroyed just prior to previous quit) overruns in character selection screen.
- Got the same character crashing on load, save file here if you want to take a look: https://www.dropbox.com/s/djf4e7fdfc...0character.zip |

![]() I somehow ended up looking at an old Space Rangers 2 thread, and I vaguely remember how the communications between other ships helped bring the universe to life. This may be something easy(-ish) to implement that would bring more life to the races:
When an allied race is going to go attack a planet, there could be a note about it in the message window, or they could "message" you directly letting you know (and by "message" I mean a line in the chat panel, not a trade request-style message -- those have their place, but would be too disruptive for most things). Currently it sometimes notifies you if an attack is already going on, but knowing beforehand and having the option to join the attack would give the races a little more flavor and involve you a bit more. Maybe when certain quests become available, the races could "message" you directly as well. If a boss shows up in a populated sector, your ally could send you a message asking for help getting rid of it, etc. Furthermore, some of the things that are generically "announced" in the chat panel could be retooled to be messages directly to you from the affected race. (e.g. instead of "BOSSNAME sent a WHATEVER HUNTER to SYSTEM," it could be "Brunt: BOSSNAME has sent a WHATEVER HUNTER to SYSTEM" [optionally with a plea for help or something].) I feel like the races should message you directly like this sometimes. There's obviously a fine balance between extra depth and interaction with the races vs. huge walls of messages that get ignored, but a little more immersion so it feels like the races are actively aware of you would be cool. |

![]() Dryad now randomly seems to declare war on me. It's happened in several games.
By random, I mean: my relation is positive (above 50), there is no triggering event I can see on screen. One of the dryad ships around a planet gets a yellow faction symbol instead of a green one, and boom: war. This happens with no alliance/protection pact to honor. So, either there's an unexplained feature happening, or there is a Bugge™. |
