Problem with Steam Demo

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar issue. The Steam demo will not work for me--it gets to the loading screen after world creation and just hangs. I decided to download the demo directly from here, and that works fine. The reason that it matters to me is that I wanted to purchase the game through Steam, but not sure that I will now because I don't know if I'll be able to get it to work through them.

Any thoughts?

Hopefully someone else can confirm if it is a general problem or not, but I'll look at it.

I downloaded the demo through steam before accepting this great game as a gift. It works for me. I run Windows XP.

Thank you. I read somewhere that someone had a problem after setting the graphics to max settings, which I did before I created my first character. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.
