Default DC is awesome

I don't want people to get the wrong impression from some of the threads in this forum (especially my own). This game is probably the best game I've played in the last 10 years, and the expansion makes it a much more complete experience -- something truly exceptional.

The reason you might see nitpicks about classes and such is that we, the dedicated users of the game, are picky about balance. Balance in a game such as this is very difficult to attain -- you have tons of class combinations and skills, and while Shadow is as attentive a developer as you can get, he has a small development team.

In any case, I just wanted it to be known how unbelievably good I think this game is. If you don't have it, get it. If you don't have the expansion, get that. Really, all you need to do is to try the demo. Give it to your friends. It's addictive stuff.

Agreed. On all counts.

The fact that we can look at the stats, nitpick over them, change them, chart them etc. is great. Very shortly after my first attempt at multiplayer, I created my first plug-in that was merged into one of the next releases (the Dvorak keyboard support). That's impressive. Better than open-source responsiveness

I like it so much, I want to keep playing for a long time. Hence being picky about my options in the game. I can tell it's going to be a favorite I keep coming back too, also. I cleared off 50GB of my harddrive in the hopes that Soldak.com takes me up on the in-game movie contest idea

Agreed as well.

I tend to be the most critical about very good games, as they just need that little push to become classics. Din's is a near-classic in its current form.

Definitely one of the best games I've played in a while. Very enjoyable.
